"Bones, you know me," Jim said with a smile, sliding his arms around McCoy's neck and staring into his eyes. "I'm always willing to try something at least once."

Bones snorted, reaching up to drag Jim's arms away. "You don't want to try this, Jim. Trust me."

"What is it, exactly, that you're afraid of?" Jim asked, the smile disappearing to leave his game face behind. "It can't be that I'm going to freak out that you're an honest-to-God vampire -- I've known for months." His eyes narrowed. "Are you scared that you're going to lose control and turn me?"

Bones rolled his eyes. "I have to consciously try to turn you, Jim. Now, can we just drop the subject? I'm a doctor; I'm busy."

Jim slid his hands around McCoy's waist. "You didn't say no, Bones."

"No to what? That I could lose control?" Bones demanded, jerking Jim's hands away from him, but not letting go of his wrists. "What do you want me to say, Jim? Yes, I'm scared of losing control -- dammit, it terrifies me. If you overeat, you get a bad stomachache. If I overeat, someone winds up dead."

"But you've kept a tight leash on it up 'til now," Jim pointed out, testing McCoy's grip on his wrists. "We've been in space for about a year now, and it's only now that you're looking rundown."

"I'm looking rundown because I've been working triple shifts since that little incident with the three Klingon warbirds, Jim," McCoy growled. One of his thumbs absently stroked the inside of Jim's wrist.

Jim stared at him for a long minute and then slowly shook his head. "You're not scared of losing control. At least, that's not the only thing you're scared of."

Bones glared at him. "And how, exactly, did you come to that brilliant conclusion?"

"You haven't let go of my wrists, for one," Jim pointed out. He closed the distance between them until their noses were inches away. "And if you were serious about me getting out of your personal space, you're more than strong enough to push me away."

"Not all vampires are physically strong, Jim," Bones said with a remarkable amount of patience.

Blue eyes locked onto brown. "Are you scared I'm going to like it?" he murmured.

Being this close to him, Jim could see McCoy's jaw tighten as the man clenched his teeth. "I tried feeding from my ex once, Jim. Once. There's a reason for that."

"I'm not your ex."

Bones exhaled through his nose. "No, you're not," he growled. "You're more suicidal, for one."

Jim snorted, leaning in further. "You know you love me."

"I don't love having to put you back together after you beam down on an away team because you're fucking bored," Bones snapped. "I don't love having to worry about you attracting STDs that Earth hasn't even discovered yet because you can't keep it in your pants. I don't love you offering to let me suck your blood because it'll be new."

Jim's lips tightened. "Bones, you may not believe me when I say this, but I love you. It scares the hell out of me to see you looking this... this drained, and if I can do something to help, I will."

"Don't even try to tell me you're not the least bit curious if you'll get an orgasm from the bite," Bones snapped.

"We're explorers, aren't we? Seeking out new life and new civilizations?" Jim shrugged. "Besides, how bad can it be?"

Bones stared at him. "My ex screamed when I fed from her, and it lasted for a good minute."

Jim blinked, and then tried his devil-may-care smirk. "That good, huh?"

"I've nearly killed people before," Bones admitted softly.

"We've got a pretty good medical team here onboard," Kirk lowered his voice, his smirk softening. "And I hear the CMO's good with his hands."

"If I go crazy, I could drain you dry in two minutes, tops," Bones murmured.

"If you think you're scaring me off," Jim murmured back, leaning in closer until their noses brushed, "it's not working."

"I don't want to hurt you," Bones whispered, but his eyes were slipping closed, and his lips parted.

"You can't," Jim whispered before he kissed him.

There had been exactly one time when Jim had kissed Bones, and they had been so drunk off their asses that they'd managed one sloppy kiss before flopping onto each other and the bed in their Academy dorm. When Jim had woken up the next morning, Bones had been long gone, and they'd never talked about that night again.

This kiss was passionate and slippery like their first, but instead of the too-tight fumbles into clothing that Jim could remember snatches of, Bones was cupping his jaw and stroking his cheek with his thumb. They traded air as their tongues twisted and mingled together, and it was all Jim could do not to groan, because sure, the Captain can kiss whoever the hell he wants in the hallways, but it would be a bad idea to groan.

When they came up for air, Bones was breathing heavily, resting his forehead against Jim's and keeping his eyes tightly shut.

"Bones," Jim croaked. He cleared his throat and tried again. "Bones."

"Shut up for a minute," Bones said tightly, and Jim could feel the quiet tension in McCoy's hands, hands that wanted to clench but were being forced to stay gentle.

"Bones--"

McCoy's eyes snapped open, and he glared at Jim with the kind of intensity that reminded Jim that his best friend from the Academy was something that could snap his neck with one hand, if he felt like it.

"Shut. Up." The two words were short, clipped syllables, but the hands that cupped Jim's face were infinitely gentle. Lips brushed against his in the wistful promise of a kiss before they pressed a trail of touch and softness to Jim's neck. Bones held him there for a long moment, his breathing loud in Jim's ear as Jim wrapped his arms around him.

There was a touch, the gentlest, softest of kisses right against his throat, and a puff of air as Bones exhaled shakily.

"Jim..." he whispered. "Just... try not to scream?"

Jim blinked, the usually confident Southern drawl sounding nervous in his ears, in the air between them. "Do it," he whispered.

He breathed in deeply and exhaled slowly, and just as he exhaled, he felt two pinpoints against his skin, and then...

It was floating, falling, flying, sailing through the air. Wind rushed past his ears, over his body, wrapping and sliding around his arms and legs. Thunder roared in his ears, and he could feel himself getting hard from the sheer pleasure quaking through him. It felt like hands brushing him, teasing him, touching him, wrapping around his cock, groping his ass, running fingers through his hair, kissing him breathless, and he wanted to do something. Return that impossible pleasure, that sensation of sex. He felt hair under his fingers, and he was holding a pair of lips against his throat, and more shockwaves of pleasure echoed out from that contact, and he was probably moaning, but he really didn't give a damn right now, he wanted that to keep going, and to touch him there, and--

A pair of lips pressed themselves hard against his neck, a little too hard to be sexy, but this wasn't something that was supposed to be sexy, it was... holy shit, it was Bones.

Bones, who was pulling back to look Jim in the eyes, his tongue sneaking out to lick his lips. "Jim?" he asked sharply, as though he hadn't just given Kirk the most intense orgasm of his life. "Jim, are you all right?"

His throat refusing to work, Kirk nodded vaguely. He tried to actually say something, but the best he managed was a purring kind of moan that would probably embarrass him later, but again, his brain was still recovering from an awesome orgasm.

"C'mon, I'm taking you to Sickbay," Bones said firmly, grabbing Jim by the arm.

"Bones," Jim said. He felt ridiculously proud that he could.

"You're looking too pale. Dammit, I knew I shouldn't have done this," McCoy muttered to himself, dragging Jim along. "You're still not recovered from that virus you got on Kadomar II."

"Bones," Jim tried again, trying to inject a note of 'I'm the Captain, listen to me' into his voice. When that didn't work, he dug his heels in and tugged on the arm that Bones was holding on to.

"Dammit, Jim," Bones snapped, not even bothering to look at him. "Stop acting like an infant. We need to make sure the blood loss isn't going to--"

Bones tried to pull him, but Jim used the momentum to swing the man around, and then kiss him deeply.

Or he tried to, at any rate. As soon as Bones's lips had come into contact with his, Bones flinched away. "Whoa, Jim. Wait until after I get you checked out first."

Jim growled at him, quickly reaching up with both hands and holding McCoy's face still while he tried his best to shove his tongue into the other man's mouth in a clumsy thank-you.

Blood. There was blood in Bones's mouth. Jim jerked out of the kiss in surprise to see Bones staring at him, looking resigned, sad, and a little disgusted at himself.

"If you're quite finished," Bones said firmly, his eyes glancing down to Jim's lips before jerking back up to meet his gaze. "I need to get you to Sickbay."

"You know you don't need to," Jim replied. "I only feel a little light-headed, and that's from the orgasm."

Bones snorted. "Of course you'd get off on that," he muttered. "I still want to make sure. Just... let me?"

Jim stared at him for a long moment before finally nodding. He didn't pretend to think that he'd completely won Bones over, but he had his foot in the door.

Well, when I post something, that's usually it? I mean, with a series like Forged, I had a plan in mind for a huge, freaking series, but since these are just prompts for [livejournal.com profile] st_xi_kink, they're meant to be short so that I can get them out there and people can enjoy.

On the downside, you end up with fics like this that don't really have a full beginning-middle-end structure, and as such, it leaves one wanting more.

I liked Bones here (even if I wasn't sure about him as a vampire!), but I surprised myself by particularly liking Kirk. His reactions are just so in character--insisting on trying this, refusing to take no for an answer, and then realizing (when he tasted the blood) that he had hardly thought it through! *grins*

Also, the drinking scene? Whew. *fans self*

Oh! Hey! I didn't think I'd see you here! *waves hi*

And I'm glad you like it. :D Bones lends himself to angsting well, but it's also really easy to go too far with it, so I'm especially glad that it worked for you.

As for Kirk, a lot of people see him as the vacant manwhore, and yes, while he is a manwhore sometimes, he's also scarily intelligent, and part of the reason he's the Captain is because he won't give up and he'll leap without looking, to borrow a phrase from Pike. He'd want to help Bones any way he could, and if it means he gets to try having an orgasm with clothes on, then it's win-win all around, right? :D

And yay! Glad the drinking scene worked for you. Going from zero to orgasm made me a bit nervous, but woot! It worked. :D

It took me a long time to give the story a try after you let me know about it, just because I really haven't been in the mood for anything even remotely dark, and I wasn't sure how vampire fic would go for these two. But Bones as a vampire isn't like any other vampire I've run into. :-D

Going from zero to orgasm made me a bit nervous, but woot! It worked. :D

It totally did. One of the advantages of a lot of vampire fic--supernaturally good sex. *g*

*g* I like that orgasms can totally happen. Even with clothes on!

And hey, I can understand being a bit leery about trying some subject matter. I hadn't thought in terms of vampires being dark, but they tend to do that, don't they? *^^*

Just out of curiosity, what was it about Bones that makes him different from any other vampire you've run into? *curious*

Orgasms with clothes on are some of the best kind! *g*

I hadn't thought in terms of vampires being dark, but they tend to do that, don't they? *^^*

Yeah. Even when they're not that angsty, just the severity of the change and the impact it has on the characters life usually makes the stories feeling tender (as in almost painfully sensitive, not as in gentle) and often melancholy.

Just out of curiosity, what was it about Bones that makes him different from any other vampire you've run into? *curious*

He's just so matter of fact and practical about it. Even his angst is about possibly hurting Jim, not about being an OMG soulless dark creature of the night!!!! Even after the intensity of the blood drinking, he goes right back to being grumpy McCoy. *g*

Yeah, sadness and woe goes hand in hand with those kinds of things. There's Bones angst, but mostly it's him worrying about hurting people.

And what's the point of making Bones a vampire if he can't still be Bones? *pets him*

Guhhh, hot. I have a total weakness for vampire!fic, and you did this so well. They're both so in character, even though one of 'em's an undead creature of the night. :D Love it!

Yay! Double trouble! Glad you enjoyed!

The mark of a good AU is if you can do all kinds of things to characters, and in the end, they're still recognizable as themselves. <3
