Shikamaru wasn't really a morning person. It was too troublesome to get out of bed, and the rest of Team Ten had long since learned of his morning routine. Wake up, turn off the alarm clock after five minutes of thinking about it, and then to the shower where he stood, half-comatose, as he let the water finish the process of waking him up.
Little had changed when he'd moved out of his parents' house and into Chouji's on the Akimichi grounds. It saved on bills, and Chouji would never kick him out.
He stood under the water, yawning again as he closed his eyes and felt the shower of water pound blissfully against his back, turning it red in moments.
"Shikamaru!"
Shikamaru's eyes opened, and he grumbled under his breath.
"Shikamaru!" Ino shouted again. "You better not be in the shower!"
"Damn it," Shikamaru grumbled before raising his voice. "Where do you think I am?"
He heard the bathroom door open, and through the curtain, he could see Ino's silhouette enter and start to peel away clothing. "Shikamaru, you know I have to mind the shop early today."
"It's not even seven, yet," Shikamaru complained. "Can't you close the door and give me five more minutes?"
"And let you waste all the hot water? No way!" The curtain opened just enough for Ino to step in and close it behind her.
At seventeen, Ino had gone from a relatively flat-chested girl to a young woman with distracting curves. Of course, the idea of being modest around two boys had long since been lost on her, and she glared at Shikamaru before pulling him away from the spray of water.
"Hey!" he yelped.
"Oh, quit whining," Ino slid around him, and if Shikamaru had been more awake and motivated to do something, it would've certainly been an interesting opportunity to take advantage of. As it was, Ino said, "Chouji, can you keep him standing while I wash my hair?" and then there was a large hand on his shoulder, keeping him from smacking into the wall of the shower while behind him, Ino had squealed at the water temperature.
"Geez, Shikamaru, no wonder there's never any hot water after you're done!" Ino complained. There were a few squeaks from the taps, ruining Shikamaru's perfectly set water temperature, and Ino sighed almost rapturously.
Shikamaru looked over at Chouji, who was brushing his teeth while holding him upright. "Why do you help her?"
Chouji gave him a look that clearly said he couldn't talk, because his mouth was full of toothpaste, and the sink was kind of out of reach.
"Because he's a sweetheart, that's why," Ino replied. When Shikamaru looked over his shoulder at her, she smirked and struck a pose, her blonde hair full of shampoo bubbles, and she looked a lot better than she had any right to this early in the morning.
Shikamaru sighed heavily, and let his head thud gently against the tiled wall of the shower. "Girls."
"Ah ah," Ino said sharply, kicking at Shikamaru with one dainty foot and splashing him with the water that had collected on the bottom of the tub. "That wouldn't be smart. I mean, I'm right here, and you're vulnerable."
Shikamaru snorted. "I'm a ninja, Ino. I think I can dodge it. And if I can't, Chouji would protect me."
Chouji paused in brushing his teeth long enough to give Shikamaru a foamy grin of agreement.
"Chouji, you traitor." Ino would've sounded sour if there weren't a smile in her voice.
Shikamaru opened his mouth to ask a question, but she cut in with an annoyed, "I'm almost done. Then you can have your precious shower back." There was a "hmph", muffled by the sound of the shower, and Ino was leaning her head back and running her fingers through her hair.
Shikamaru snorted. "I wasn't going to ask that."
Chouji raised an eyebrow at him skeptically.
Shikamaru shot him a sleepy glare, and then said over his shoulder, "I was going to ask if you wanted me to wash your back for you."
"Why, Shikamaru," Ino said, smirking again. "I thought you'd never ask." She turned around, carefully taking her hair and letting it fall over one shoulder.
Shikamaru straightened, winking once at Chouji before arming himself with soap and gently tracing random designs with it against Ino's back.
The first time he had offered to wash her back, she'd slapped him and called him a pervert, but when she realized that he was more than willing to wash Chouji's back, and Chouji his, she'd accepted more readily the next time. Smiling a little at the memory, Ino glaring at him and warning him not to try anything funny while at a lake that Asuma had taken them to during a training session and Chouji watching curiously, Shikamaru set the bar of soap down in its holder and ran his hands up and down her back in broad, smooth strokes.
"Maybe after the shower, Chouji can give you a back massage," Shikamaru said, glancing over his shoulder at Chouji. Chouji blinked, still brushing his teeth, and then gave a noncommital shrug that, sure, he could do it, if Ino wanted.
"Mmm," Ino purred, "you two are a study in temptation. I really shouldn't, though. Mom's expecting me at the flower shop by eight."
There was the sound of Chouji spitting into the sink, and then he said, "You better hurry. It's seven-thirty now."
"Seven-thirty!" Ino shrieked, causing both boys to wince. "I'm going to be late!" She turned quickly, letting the shower rinse the soap off her back, and then she was shoving Shikamaru out of the way, grabbing a towel from Chouji, and bounding out of the bathroom, yelping and scampering across the floor until the boys heard her bedroom door slam.
Shikamaru peeked out behind the curtain. "Is it really seven-thirty?"
Chouji was fighting very hard not to smile. "Maybe."
Shikamaru raised an eyebrow at him.
"I think it's closer to seven-fifteen," Chouji said, blushing a little.
Shikamaru considered this for a moment before cocking his head.
"What?" Chouji asked, curious.
"She's not shrieking about having been tricked," Shikamaru pointed out.
"That's because the clock in her room broke a few days ago, and she hasn't had time to get a new one, and you know how she's always losing her watches," the bigger ninja pointed out.
Shikamaru blinked, and gave Chouji a mildly impressed look. "That's why I will never underestimate you, man."
Chouji grinned, scratching the back of his neck. "Did you want a back massage, since Ino's not going to be able to have one?"
"Absolutely," Shikamaru grinned. "Just--"
"Give you five minutes," Chouji cut in, still grinning. "Got it. There'll be coffee and breakfast waiting when you get out."
"Have I told you recently that I love you?"
Chouji's cheeks flushed. "Sure, but it doesn't hurt to be reminded."
"I could kiss you right now," Shikamaru offered.
Chouji wrinkled his nose. "Not before you brush your teeth."
Shikamaru snorted. "Go get breakfast going. I need to wake up."

Date: 2009-03-16 02:01 am (UTC)I mean, my primary 'ship is Shikamaru/Chouji (especially after episodes 113 and 114), but after having found a few InoShikaChou fics, I ended up letting Ino in there as well, and this came about. Well, there was also a lack of shower scenes on the 'net. Then again, this isn't really shower porn. But! That's them, in the morning. :D
Did you manage to upgrade your internet connection? Because I know of some sites where you can watch the Naruto episodes (subbed and dubbed for the original series, and subbed for the Shippuden series) for free.

Click on the season you want, and you get a list of the episodes.
InoShikaChou aren't introduced in the original series until about Episode 22 or 23? I think? Hrm.
