The way he holds her as they dance. So proper. They're almost undressing each other on the dance floor as I watch.

His name is Newman, Henry. Lieutenant.

Never have I hated a name more.

The way he looks at her, holds her, leans in close to murmur to her. The light in her eyes as she looks at him... She's tense, but still courageous enough to stay.

She looks at me that way, when we're alone.

The two of them murmur in low voices, even under the music, and my ears burn. He smiles at her gently, his hands almost worshipful against her.

I want him court-martialed. I want his eyes plucked out by ravens.

I want him dead.
