Just because it can get lonely out on the high seas doesn't mean that a Marine has carte blanche to shack up with whoever they want. When it's a fellow officer a few years younger, there's even more disapproval waiting to make itself known.

It doesn't matter that they just survived a war that was broadcast all over the world.

It doesn't even matter that Coby was one of the ones to stop the carnage from getting worse.

The regs are clear about things like this: this shouldn't be happening.

Helmeppo shouldn't be kissing his neck, running his tongue along soft skin and breathing in sweat, laundry soap, and a faint scent that he recognized as "Coby".

Coby definitely shouldn't be making those kinds of noises while grabbing onto Helmeppo's jacket like he is, his lips trembling, his eyes half-open in a way that looks like his brain blew a fuse.

One of Helmeppo's thighs shouldn't be between Coby's legs, rubbing and pressing and making the younger man twitch and moan approvingly -- yes, like that, more.

Coby's fingers shouldn't be running themselves through Helmeppo's hair, soothing and exciting in turns, twitching when Helmeppo gets to a sensitive spot.

When Helmeppo finds himself awake in the dead of night hours later, he shouldn't have an elbow lodged in his ribs, bright pink hair tickling his nose.

But as Coby shifts and opens a sleepily curious eye at him, Helmeppo finds that what he shouldn't be doing is questioning the knowledge deep in his bones that there is nowhere else in the world he'd rather be.
