To be fair, Bob had had to develop that personality when dealing with masters that he couldn't get away from, and who were more than willing to hurt him. It's sad that he had to do that to protect himself, and it's even worse because he thought that Harry would turn on him like that, but at the same time, the argument they had before Harry ordered him to stay in his skull was most likely the first time that they'd ever had an argument like that, and it's hard to tell, sometimes, just how someone's going to react when circumstances change drastically.
