This fic was awesome. Not only was it from Bob's POV, but it's a Murphy-meets-Bob fic! I love those. I wish almost every time I think of The Dresden Files that we got to see more of that, either in canon or in fic. *grins* And Bob got to help save Harry, which was also made of win. The scene where Murphy asks, "You've never gotten to do that before, have you?" was wonderful. I like her insight in that part, the sense that she understood Bob a little bit. I've read a couple of stories where the two of them don't get along very well, which always makes me sad. I always thought that it would be way more fun to see them united in their efforts to not let Harry get himself killed. *grins*
The end of this story made my heart ache in the best way. I never doubted that Bob loved Harry back, but I wasn't entirely sure why he hadn't said anything, aside from the fact that not being able to touch might make it seem pointless. But you made it be an extension of Bob's protectiveness towards Harry (and his own less-than-positive regard for himself, in some ways), which fit beautifully.
I was just thinking about how Bob can be very arrogant and confident in some ways, and terribly hard on himself in others, and I've suddenly realized how much like Tony Stark he is in that way! He has absolutely confidence in his skill in his field, but (thanks to past mistakes and dark temptations) not that much regard for himself as a person.
