Am I totally remember things wrong (I might be, my memory is terrible), or did Harry stay and cooperate with Justin a lot longer than he otherwise might have because of Elaine? And then she comes back, I think, and I can't for the life of me remember quite how he reacted. But that might be the chivalry more than any sense of needing to be loved.
