I really liked the mental image of Harry cleaning Bob's skull because I don't remember encountering it in fanfic before, and it seemed like a sweet thing to do. Scrubbing with painter's brushes added to the effect, and it was adorkably Harry. :D
To me, if Harry throws so much power into the spells that half of it slops out the other side before he throws it, Bob is the one-shot kill. He puts in precisely the power he needs, but when he throws the spell, whatever he's throwing it at is done. In another series I have in the works, a mortal Bob is capable of taking out a very large room of people with the Bob equivalent of a Sith Force choke.
And it's a very interesting idea that you've raised, that Harry's worried he's not making Bob proud. Not only is he in love with the man (ghost), but the way he puts his magic together is haphazard and messy. Then again, considering that when he was learning magic in the first place, he had a ghost for a teacher, it wasn't like the ghost could adequately demonstrate how the energies would flow by being able to physically show Harry. This being Harry, however, he's still going to think that.
*pets Harry gently*
As always, thank you for the lovely, in-depth comment. :D
