Well, I highly recommend both. There's quite a few people in fandom who either prefer the books or the TV show, but the books really give a lot more depth to the world that Harry inhabits. I personally like Bob's backstory a lot better in the TV show, and the relationship the two of them have is very different in the books, but Harry still manages to have some 'shippy moments with people. Yay, Harry!
