I think the trouble with Radek and Carson being minor characters on the series (for the most part) is that they don't get a lot of room to shine. I know that "Poisoning the Well" was primarily a Carson episode, but there hasn't been anything similar with Radek to really show us his personality. I have a feeling because of this lack of canon characterization that people are ready to make them sweet guys who are wonderful, ideal men that any woman would love to date.
I'm glad that the nice-guy!Radek characterization worked for you, because in this fic, I saw him as reining in Rodney as much as he could, as well as being genuinely curious about Carson and his wings.
